Quiet Zone Week in the Library

In order to help our students do their best on their final exams, the library will be offering a quiet place for study during exam week, Monday, December 9th through Saturday, December 14th.

Students, faculty, and staff are asked to remain quiet in the library during this week and turn off their cell phones before they enter the library. Headphones are available at the information desk for anyone wishing to listen to audio on their computers.

Silence will be enforced in the study table area, community room, and library lab. Students wishing to use the group study rooms are also asked to refrain from loud discussions and to close the door when studying with groups.

Cutest RESCUE Pet Contest!

Have you rescued a pet from a shelter? The Library will be holding a Cutest RESCUE Pet Contest in conjunction with the Fine Forgiveness Campaign.  Students, Faculty, and Staff are invited to submit a photo of your RESCUE  pet by picking up an entry form in the library or  you can post it on Instagram #waynecollegepets .  Be sure to follow us on Instagram at the waynecollegelibrary  if your account is set to private. The deadline to enter is Saturday, November 9, 2013.   Entries will be displayed in the library November 18-December 7, 2013.   Your pet’s photo will be displayed with a bank and the pet that receives the most donations will be crowned Cutest RESCUE Pet!  All of the money collected will be donated to the Wayne County Humane Society.  The Cutest RESCUE Pet’s owner will receive a $25.00 giftcard to Pet Supplies Plus.  If you don’t have a rescue pet to enter, you can help the animals out at the Humane Society by voting with your pocket change.  Questions or entries can be emailed to Tina Kilcullen at tkilcul@uakron.edu .

Got Library Fines?

Wayne College Library has a solution!

The library will be collecting the following items for the Wayne County Humane Society in lieu of library fines:
  • Dry kitten / cat food
  • Dry dog / puppy food
  • Canned cat / dog food
  • Cat litter
The campaign will begin on November 1 and we will accept donations until December 14.  One item donated will equal one dollar off accrued fines.  Bagged items will be given a one dollar credit for every pound.

When paying fines with cash, patrons will be given a 50% discount on the total fine owed.  We will only accept cash, no Zipcards.  Sorry, we cannot forgive charges associated with lost materials replacement as part of this fine forgiveness campaign.

If you do not have any library fines, the library will accept any contributions to help the Humane Society.  See a full list of the most urgent needs on their website.

If you have any questions, please contact Tina Kilcullen at tkilcul@uakron.edu.
