Quiet week for exam week

In order to help our students do their best on their final exams, the library will be offering a quiet place for study during exam week, Monday, May 3rd through Saturday, May 8th.

Students, faculty, and staff are asked to remain quiet in the library during this week and turn off their cell phones before they enter the library. Headphones are available at the information desk for anyone wishing to listen to audio on their computers. Silence will be enforced in the table area, community room, and library lab. Students wishing to use the group study rooms are also asked to refrain from loud discussions and to close the door when studying with groups.

Please take some time to complete the surveys in the library's online Springboard classroom. The surveys will be available for each library workshop offered this semester until April 30, 2010.

Every semester we evaluate the responses on these surveys to determine how we can improve the workshop content, handouts, and quiz questions.

Food for Fines Thanks!

Many thanks to all who participated in the Library’s annual Food for Fines amnesty campaign. Our total collections included 401 items and $21.15 in cash. All proceeds were donated to People to People Ministries in Wooster. A special “Thank You” goes out to all of the folks who donated cash and items even though they didn’t have any library fines.

Fireside Readers Next Book Discussion - May 3rd

Fireside Readers Book Discussion Group

On May 3^rd the book group will meet to discuss A Mighty Long Way: My Journey to Justice at Little Rock Central High by Carlotta Walls LaNeir. The book offers an insider's account of the nation's most famous school integration and recounts how the author made the decision to attend Arkansas's all-white Central High because of geographical practicality rather than a sense of heroism. The author describes the subsequent events and how they affected her family's beliefs about dedication, perseverance, and sacrifice.

The group meets at 7 p.m. in the Community Room. As always, new members and guests are always welcome. Join us, even if you haven’t finished the book! Light refreshments will be served.
